Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Friday again?  Geez, this week has flown by, which is kind of weird.  I feel like I'm stuck in this time warp or something, where by, the week has flown but the days are dragging.  I think it has something to do with the end of the school year looming and summer vacation being just around the corner.  After today there are just 3 1/2 more days to go!

Yesterday ended up being a crappy day...all because I let some jerk get to me.  Someone (and I know it was the guy riding the back bumper of my bus and trying to pass in a no-passing zone) called the garage yesterday and told my boss that I was taking huge risks...pulling out in front of people (including a semi!), driving too fast, etc. and that it wasn't the first time he'd seen me driving like that.  Uh-huh.  About that.  I am a very cautious driver....in the bus, anyway.  I didn't do any of that.  He was just ticked because he got stuck behind a bus going way slower than he wanted to.  You wouldn't believe how often people call the garage to vent their road rage.  Thank heaven my boss believes me, just said to be extra cautious since we know there's someone out there gunning for me.  Still, it really bugged me and kind of drug my day down.

So, I guess we've kind of adjusted to Megan's nocturnal leanings and settled into a way of life around here.  Cody (that's the boyfriend) is a really nice kid and he's good to her.  He follows the rules and sleeps in the other room when he's here (probably because he's deathly afraid of Tim), which is fairly often.  More days than not I feed the kid and he's at home enough to walk in when he gets here and help himself to snacks if he's hungry.  Life is pretty peaceful and Megan and I are getting along and talking....as long as I don't push too much when her lack of effort around here gets to me.  And actually, she's been a little better about that.  Just don't look in her room....kinda looks like the news footage from Joplin in there....and did she luck out or what?  Cody thinks it looks fine.  Seriously.  Megan tells me she hasn't even been in his house because according to him, his parents "aren't hoarders, stuff's just stacked up over the years and there's a path through the house."

Matt called this morning to tell me that Scion's regional manager got promoted and he called Matt to tell him to get his resume in for the opening.  It would be a fantastic opportunity for him.  Downside for us?  It would mean he'd moving to Baltimore.  That would probably knock us down to only seeing our granddaughter a couple of times a year.  Oh well, millions of other people survive it, so I guess I will too if it happens.

Came home yesterday morning to find someone tilling my neighbor's garden.  I asked if he could do mine and what he'd charge.  He said $45 and he'd do it as soon as he finished hers.  Dude, you're hired!  So, the garden's finally tilled.  Now if I can just get some dry weather so I can plant stuff.  Tim and I are going plant shopping tonight.  Unless it's storming again.  It's supposed to be nice all weekend so I'll probably plant stuff then since Tim is probably working the entire three-day weekend.

My mom sent an e-mail from Florida.  John had his one-year check up from his cancer treatment yesterday.  Everything was good and the doctor was so pleased that they don't have to go back for another year!

NookColor has lots of apps now, just like an iphone or ipad.  Um.....yeah....about those.  I've downloaded a bunch.  Some are okay.  A couple I haven't tried yet.  The books for Sora are cute.  The games and interactive books all seem to have a problem with freezing up, tho'.  I haven't figured out the organizer app yet and I haven't even looked at the Goodreads app, which, if it works will be really nice.  Several of my blogger buddies and I belong online and I could keep up right in the same place where (some of) my books are.

Guess that's all for now.  I need to get some lunch and head back to work.  Sigh.  I am sooooo ready for vacation.  Enjoy your Friday, everyone, and the weekend, too, if I don't catch up with you.
