And So It Begins...

Today is the first "official" day of summer vacation.  I don't count the weekend since I wouldn't have worked anyway.  Today is the first day I don't have to get up at 4:00 when the alarm goes off.  Well, I did...because the dogs wanted out...but I didn't stay up.  I was up to stay by 7:00, though.  Our son, Matt is at Virginia Beach and thought he'd text me a picture of the sunrise.  Thanks.  It was pretty, I have to admit.  The cell phone woke the dogs up again and I decided there was no point in lying there any longer.

Tim and I worked outside all day yesterday.  We got the shrubs trimmed, the shadynook cleaned out/floor sealed/and everything cleaned up and put back, and the deck cleaned off and the furniture set out on it.  The pool is open and ready for business.  I haven't been in it yet.  Tim promised all day he'd swim when we got done (he hates swimming), but pooped out on me when the time came.  Megan, Cody (boyfriend) and a couple their friends with were in it all afternoon and came back about the time we were finishing up so I decided to skip it.  They didn't need the "old lady" in the pool and honestly, I didn't want to be in the middle of their squirt gun battle.  My idea of "swimming" is floating peacefully on a raft.

Saturday was a good day, too.  I got up at 5:00 with Tim so I could drive over the mountain to meet up with friends at their house at 7:00 and hit a couple of community-wide yard sales.  I got Tim a bag full of CDs for in his truck.  He loves old country (Hee Haw vintage) and mellow rock from the 60s and 70s.  That stuff is easy to pick up cheap and it doesn't matter if it gets messed up in his truck.  I bought a really pretty brown and green pottery vase, Tri-Bond game (new in the box), two brand new umbrellas depicting famous art for a dollar each (we lose umbrellas like crazy), a Wii game, a Fisher-Price adjustable basketball hoop for our granddaughter and a 2-foot tall concrete Santa.  The only thing I'm kicking myself for passing on is an Ab-Circle.  Megan has wanted one since they first came out and I saw one for $20.  I passed on it because it was early yet and I'd set myself a limit....I thought we were going to be out for several hours yet and didn't want to be caught with no money.  Turned out we weren't out much longer at all...not going to garage sales, anyway.  We took a drive because it was a beautiful day and the scenery was gorgeous and we stopped for lunch.

Okay, I guess I am off to walk the dogs before it gets too hot and then it's time to pay bills, do some laundry, run the vacuum, and if it's not too hot....get out there and pull weeds in the flower beds.

Happy Summer, Y'all!

Can I come over and swim with all of you? When I was a little girl I loved swimming in our pool, I pretended I was a mermaid...I've never lived in a house since that had a pool, but love just floating with a book, lazily in hand and then having a BBQ. Yep, that's it, I'm coming over ;)

I'm so glad you get to relax after working so hard, Stacy

C'mon over Wendy! It'd be nice to have one of my friends in the pool for a change.

I wish we had a pool! It would be really nice in this Oklahoma heat!

It comes in handy here. We probably don't get quite as hot as you do in OK, but we have humidity to rival tropical zones. Hence my lack of hair style...I'm just letting the curls have at it because they'd take over after a while anyway. :P

I have been doing yard work rather than blogging -- then we went camping. I've just read your posts to catch up but since "it's all right Tuesday" I thought you might forgive me for not commenting on them all. Enjoy your summer break. If I could I would come and swim with you!
