30 Day Challenge, Day 15: Higher Calling

For Day 15 I'm to share a Bible verse.  There are so many good ones (all of them) and I thought about it for a while, but decided to share the verses that are the basis for the Bible study the ladies at church are doing on a woman's higher calling.

Likewise, teach the older women to be
reverent in the way they live,
not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine,
but to teach what is good.
Then they can train the younger women
to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled and pure,
to be busy at home,
to be kind,
and to be subject to their husbands,
so that no one will malign
the word of God.

~ Titus 2: 3-5

There is so much in those short little verses to consider!  Tonight was our second night studying slander alone.  So much that we don't even think about can be considered gossip or slander.  I was brought up short tonight by the idea that even our facial expressions can be slanderous.  Just think of how often you are listening to someone and you roll your eyes, or nod your head in agreement, or smirk, etc.  All of those things cast a certain light on the person talking or the person they are talking about.  God's standards of sin are VERY high and all too often I fall short.  I am very grateful God is forgiving and allows us to make mistakes.

I can't wait to see what we dig up about the rest of the verses.

What a really great verse. I am thankful for a forgiving God as well.

I did this just today! I said one thing and rolled my eyes to indicate another. That was gossiping with plausible deniability. I will curb that behavior. Thank you.

It really is a good study. We've pulled so much out of it that I just never thought of before. And Quilly...you and me both!
