Kleenex Alert!

Day 22:  A song that you listen to when you’re sad.  I don't usually listen to sad songs when I'm already feeling sad, which is what I think they were going for here.  If I'm already sad, I don't want to dig the pit deeper, you know....so usually I'll crank up my happy songs and rock myself out of my funk.  However, there are songs that can pretty much instantly reduce me to a blubbering mess so I've decided to share two of those with you today.  The first is sad, but the second is far, far worse.  Keep the Kleenex handy.

day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding
day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral
day 25 – a song that makes you laugh
day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument
day 27 – a song that you wish you could play
day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty
day 29 – a song from your childhood
day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

Rock & Roll Friday

Welcome to Rock 'n Roll Fridays. We are like other memes in that we will ask you thirteen questions each and every Friday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a singer, band, era or category and pick thirteen of their songs. Each of our questions will be based on the lyrics. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked R.E.M.

1. MAN IN THE MOON “If you believe, they put a man on the moon…”
What public scandal such as Roswell, Kennedy Shooting, Agent Orange, etc do you question?
~ I don't know if I "question" it, but I don't live far from Kecksburg where a UFO supposedly fell out of the sky in the 60's with many witnesses.  The government showed up, took over the scene, and hauled whatever it was away.  I don't really think the government is hiding aliens, but it would still be cool to find out what was such a big secret.

2. RADIO FREE EUROPE “Radio Free Europe, radio free europe, calling out…”
Have you ever used a shortwave radio or listened to another country’s radio broadcast?
~ No

3. IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT “It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine”
What would you eat if you knew it was the end of the world soon?
~ I don't think I'd be all that worried about food, but if I have to have a last meal it's going to be shrimp.

4. LOSING MY RELIGION “Losing my religion, and I don’t know, oh no I’ve said too much…”
Have you ever said something to someone that was negative about a religion only to find that person was of the faith you were speaking about?
~ I don't think so.  I am respectful of other's beliefs even if I don't agree with them.

5. NIGHTSWIMMING “Nightswimming, remembering that night…”
Have you ever gone skinny dipping at night, or night swimming in a lake, pond, river, beach, pool?
~ Yes, and I'll just let you wonder which one or ones.

6. THE ONE I LOVE “This one goes out to the one I love. This one goes out to the one I left behind”
Is there a song you hear that reminds you of someone in your past every time you hear it?

7. STAND “Stand in the place where you work, now face west…”
What was the last childhood game you played as an adult?
~ Hide and Seek

8. EVERYBODY HURTS “Everybody hurts, everybody cries, sometimes, sometimes everything is wrong…”
What is wrong right now?

~ I have a day off and it's cold and rainy.

9. DON’T GO BACK TO ROCKVILLE “Don’t go back to Rockville, and waste another year”
Where will you never go back to?

~ The bakery that was so rude to us when we were asking for donations for the Civic Club fundraiser.  The guy was unbelievably rude.  I will never buy so much as a donut from him again.

10. ORANGE CRUSH “I’ve got my spine, I’ve got my orange crush”
What is your favorite fruit flavor and your favorite way to have it?

~ Pineapple....anyway will do.

11. SOUTH CENTRAL RAIN “Did you never call? I waited for your call…”
What was the last call you were waiting for?

~ Probably my daughter to check in.

12. DRIVE “What if you did what if you walked? What if you rocked around the clock?”
What was the last thing you did that took hours and hours to finish?

~ The laundry.

13. POP SONG “Should we talk about the weather…Should we talk about the government?”
What was the last thing you said about the weather and the government?
~ It's all a big conspiracy?

I missed that UFO thing and shrimp is another food I like. I am guessing the swimming thing was more than one :)

The song "If You're Reading This" really moves me also. You got a nice blog.

Hi Jim! Thank you and thanks for visiting me. Oh, you'd be guessing right. ;)

Beautiful songs, Stacy!

I love your heart! Hope Megan checked in!

Great answer for #4. It's what I said bothers me about most people...not respecting other people's beliefs.

Beth...thank you. I love you, too. I wasn't waiting for Meg to check in yesterday, though she did. From HOOTERS! LOL She rode along to Virginia to keep her friend company when she took her kids to their father for the holiday.

Carielle...Thanks for visiting me and commenting. Respect is something we hear everyone yammering for these days, but there isn't much of it actually going on. Everyone should learn that it's possible to disagree without getting ugly about it.
