The Sunday Collection

Good morning!  I'm putting all my Sunday stuff together in one post.  History proves that if I post several times you (my readers) end up either skipping some of the posts or just don't realize there are more than the one that shows up in your blogroll.  So, basically it ends up being a lot of work for nothing.  I'm not a fan of doing that.

It's shaping up to be a great day here.  The sun is shining....I know!!  Can you believe it??  Our son and his family stayed over and once everyone is up and moving about we're going to brunch, which is much easier than trying to figure out how and what to feed a whole bunch of picky eaters, a vegetarian, and one semi-vegetarian.

It will be interesting to see if our granddaughter is speaking to us.  We kept her last night while her parents and auntie went out for wings and midnight bowling.  She wanted nothing at all to do with Pappy....one look at him sent her into a panic.  She was fine with me, at least until bedtime.  Then not so much.  Nanny's a tough cookie and didn't give in to her requests for a book/drink/food/dog/whatever-gets-me-out-of-bed.  That ploy failing she switched to hysterics over her suddenly missed parents.  It took an hour and many promises about how she could blow bubbles outside with the hound (she LOVES that dog!) today she finally fell asleep.

When I am worked up or feeling anxious and just can't let it go and fall asleep, this is the song that will soothe my spirit and let me rest.  (Song Challenge, Day 9: A song that puts you to sleep.)

day 11 – a song from your favorite band
day 12 – a song from a band you hate
day 13 – a song that is a guilty pleasure
day 14 – a song that no one would expect you to love
day 15 – a song that describes you
day 16 – a song that you used to love but now hate
day 17 – a song that you hear often on the radio
day 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio
day 19 – a song from your favorite album
day 20 – a song that you listen to when you’re angry
day 21 – a song that you listen to when you’re happy
day 22 – a song that you listen to when you’re sad
day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding
day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral
day 25 – a song that makes you laugh
day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument
day 27 – a song that you wish you could play
day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty
day 29 – a song from your childhood
day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year

For Today...

Outside my window...
It is sunny and warm, already!  Has Spring finally come to stay??

I am thinking...I wish the kids would spend more time visiting with us and less time sleeping when they come to stay.

I am thankful for...Any time I get with my granddaughter.  I don't get to see her very much.

I am wearing...my pajamas and fuzzy bathrobe, but will change into jeans and shirt when I finish here.

I am remembering...what it was like when my whole family used to gather at my grandmother's.  Huge family breakfasts, lots of conversation....good times.  I can't recreate it here because I can't get everyone up and too many picky eaters.

I am going...put on my happy face today no matter how things go.

I am currently reading...Tender Vow by Sharlene MacLaren.  I've just started it, so don't really know how it is yet.

I am hoping...we have a good day together as a family, that Tim doesn't start to "not feel good", that Megan doesn't get mad at me for breathing, and that I don't offend my son or his wife.

On my mind...last night's church service.  The regional director came and installed our church's very first council officers (I am a deaconess) and he also delivered the message.  He is one of the best preachers I know.  I enjoy his sermons very much and last night he talked about what it means to be a leader.  I really got a lot out of it and felt that God was poking me and telling me to "sit up and listen."

Noticing that...the later I go to bed, the earlier I seem to wake up.

Pondering these words...Cheerfulness, in most cheerful people, is the rich and satisfying result of strenuous discipline.

In the kitchen...a bunch of dirty dishes.  No food since we're going out.

Around the house...I've been deep cleaning and organizing and doing a bit of decorating (new towels and mats in the bathroom...that sort of thing).

One of my favorite things...first thing in the morning on a sunny Summer day when the sky is blue and the world seems full of possibilities.

I know what you mean about the kids sleeping all the time during visits!

I agree about life in Bikini Bottom with Sponge Bob. Sounds alright to me too!
