Look for Blessings in All Things

The week before last I was none too pleased with Megan's decisions concerning work.  She quit.  There were extenuating circumstances and I believed she did need to get out of that daycare and find other work, but in some things I am a cautious person.  Work is one of them.  Unless there is a reason you absolutely can't stay at a job, I believe you should stick with it while you hunt for another.  At least that way you still have income, because I don't know how it is where you are, but here in PA you can't collect unemployment if you quit.  Not to mention that these days jobs are not that easy to come by.

So, that's where we were and I wasn't thrilled to have an 18-year-old at home staying out all night, sleeping all day and pretty much doing what she wanted.  I kept waiting for the "Can I borrow a few dollars?  I'll pay you back." stuff to start.  It hasn't yet, well at least not actual asking for money.  One change is that she and Cody are here nearly every night for supper so I'm feeding both of them.  I can live with that for now and it is giving me a chance to get to know this kid with whom she is already talking of living with.  I like him so far.  He's quiet and shy around us (actually, he's afraid of Tim), but he's good to her and that's what matters.  It's been a long time since I've seen my baby truely happy.  She told her doctor that she never thought she deserved a nice guy like him.  Ughhhh....I would love to go back in time and slap her first boyfriend silly for doing such a number on her.

Anyway, by Friday I found myself absolutely THRILLED that Megan was no longer at the daycare.  Why?  Because the owner's husband, who was at the daycare all the time, was arrested Friday.....for RAPING A CHILD, umpteen counts of child pornography, child endangerment, attempted rape, and a whole lot of other nasty stuff.  The child involved is his own granddaughter.  How sick is that?

So the daycare is closed all week while the investigation goes on.  No one has contacted Megan outside of one parent, but it may go that far since she was often there at night when he was there.  The owner is sticking by him.  She says she knows it's horrible but he's her husband.  I (along with most others) remain convinced she knew what he was doing and wonder how the heck she justifies letting him anywhere near the daycare?

Megan quitting turned out to be a blessing, getting her out of there before everything hit the fan.  Now, if we could just have the added blessing of a new job.....

That is horrible about that daycare. Some folks are just sick. Glad your girl got out of there. I hope she finds a job that she likes soon.

Thank you. I hope she finds one soon, too....before we drive each other any crazier than we already are. LOL

Erica is FINALLY starting a new job (she's been unemployed for a couple of years) day after tomorrow. I'm really praying she makes it past that first "this is exhausting" phase. And I hope for you guys that Megan finds work soon! Is she looking?

I don't know how anyone can abuse a child, any child, like that! I'd say he's one of the ones destined for a millstone around his neck! Praying for the children, and parents, involved!

Beth...that is good news about Erica! I join you in praying that she sticks with it. I know that is a problem for Megan. I don't know if it is the ADD or what but she loses interest pretty quickly even when it's something she likes. Hanging out seems to be the only thing that never gets old. She's put in three applications (she says) but that's it. She wants to go to Alabama in June for her cousin's wedding. I don't think she wants a job during the summer. :/

As for the daycare owner's husband...I'll try to feel sorry for him if he ends up with a big, hairy boyfriend named Bubba while he's in jail, but it's going to be tough.

This situation calls for prayer from a variety of angles and I just asked God to cover them all. My primary concern is with the children, still, I hope Megan gets a good job quickly.
