What If The Hodgepodge Really Is What It's All About?

Man, the days are rolling by like lightning!  I'm still not over it being time for "It's Okay Tuesday" again and it's already time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge...brought to you courtesy of Joyce over at From This Side Of The Pond.  Thank you, Joyce, for once again rounding up a group of questions that are entertaining, thought provoking, and a good way to meet new blogging buddies.  Simply visit Joyce's blog if you'd like to join in the fun.

1. What is something that bothers you if it's not done perfectly?
~ Oy!  According to my family, the list is endless.  I can thank my dad for that.  He accepted nothing less than perfection and drummed into my head that if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well/right.  I've learned to relax on some things, but one that drives me nuts is the bed.  I like it made just so and even unmade just so and I hate the covers to get messy when I sleep.  I wake up and straighten them out once or twice every night.

2. Do you think a 6th sense exists? Explain.
~ I do.  I don't think I'd call it ESP or being psychic, but there's something to intuition.  I think it's more about being in tune with what people are saying and doing...or not saying or doing.  I am always making what seem to Tim like ginormous mental leaps from a sketchy clue or two to a fact.  I can't say that I actually try to do it, but it happens quite often.

3. Do you say your goodbyes slowly, quickly, or not at all?
~ I would say it depends on who I'm saying them to and under what circumstances.

4. On a scale of 1-10, with ten being hot hot hot, what level of spice do you like in your food? What's your favorite 'spicy' dish?
~ I used to like some spice, probably a 7-8 on the spice-o-meter, but now I've got this "thing" going on in my mouth and eating anything spicy leaves my mouth feeling like I've gargled with acid.  I suspect the culprit is this.

5. What is one of your all time favorite commercial jingles?

6. Plane, train, boat or auto...your preferred method of travel?
~ Auto.  I prefer to be the captain of my own destiny.

7. What is something you take for granted?
~ I tend to be acutely aware of the fact that NOTHING is a given.  It's all a gift and could be gone in the blink of an eye.  These days we can't even assume that we'll always have our freedoms or health care when we need it.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ Why is  it that June and July were painfully slow months and now that the end of summer is here and I'd like to sit back and savor the last days, the calendar is overflowing with appointments and dates and things to do?  We've received 5 (FIVE!!) invites for this coming weekend to birthdays and baby showers.  Couldn't we have spread it out a bit, people?

We have a very busy calendar for the next month. The only weekend with nothing scheduled right now is my birthday weekend. Hmmm...somehow that seems wrong.

I'd forgotten the Dr. Pepper commercials! Great jungle. :O)

Yes, September promises to be an eventful month. I think everyone has returned from Summer Vacation and now they have to fill up the calendar.

Finally someone else who understands why the bed has to be made just so! Loved your answers, and thanks for visiting my blog!

My mom had Lichen Planus. It was on her legs. I know it wasn't fun for her but fortunately it didn't last too, too long. Hopefully it will be the same in your case also.

Okay, I admit to making typos all the time, but I had to laugh when I saw you wrote "lightening" instead of "lightning." That makes me crazy!

;)

I'm not perfect in the spelling department, but I wish for such!

Oh, and I'm a little freaked out by your bed making in the middle of the night...

Joyce...maybe there is a surprise scheduled for your birthday??

Word Nerd...I confess that my friends and I liked the Dr. Pepper commercials because we thought David McNaughton (sp?) was hot!

Expats Again...I suppose that is it, but I'd much rather relax these last precious days of summer.

Madeline...Yes, there are two of us. lol

Donna...If that's what it is, I've had it on my arms, legs, and body in the past and the outbreaks lasted anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months. This business in my mouth has been going on for a couple of years. It is just worse sometimes. On the bright side...I don't think I've had it anywhere else since my mouth. I need to see a doctor armed with info from the internet because no one had diagnosed it before.

Ellen....auuurrgghhh! I didn't even catch that. I hate typos, but while that one is most likely my doing, I still swear Blogger adds things now and then between my typing and hitting publish.

Oh, and I'll make the bed while you purge. ;)

My weekend is so busy(especially Sunday!) that I am tired just thinking about it! No rest for me either...

Amiee...it's good to be busy, but I really wish all the parties didn't hit at the same time. It seems like everyone is in a rush to get them in before summer is over.

I am sorry but the waking up at night to straighten the bed sheets is funny. LOL! But I understand it!

Stacy said...

Monkey...I think it comes from my belief when I was little that as long as I was covered completely and no arms or legs were hanging over the edge of the bed I was safe. I don't believe that now, but habit, I guess.

A lot of us had the same answer for #2. guess we all knew that we would as well. He..he
Yes, like you the calendar is filling up - is there a Dislike button here some place?

We're trying to get together with the parents of the guy who is with Josiah. When one of us has a free evening ... the others do not. He said he thought life would be less busy once the kids grew up. I told him that I think it's just more schedules to juggle!

Stacy said...

Beth...that's for sure and when they're young and wrapped up in their own lives it's hard to pin the kids down to get together.
