Happy Birthday Wednesday Hodgepodge!

This is the 53rd week of the Wednesday Hodgepodge so it's a week late in coming, but it's been a year since the Hodgepodge made its debut over on Joyce's blog, From This Side of the Pond.  I've only been participating for 6 months or so, but it's always a fun meme and I've met some lovely people visiting the other participants.  If you'd like to join in the fun just click the link or the button above to hop over and get the rules and sign up.

1. What song reminds you of a specific time in your life and what is it about that song that makes you remember?
~ Billy Joel's "Piano Man" takes me back to college and the frat my friends and I frequented every Friday night (and I later dated one of the brothers).  At the end of the night they'd give "last call" and anyone still there would gather in a circle, arms around each other and belt this song out to close out the party.

2. What's something you've given up on?
~ Being organized for any length of time .  It just goes against the ADD-grain.

3. What's something you'll never give up on?
~ Losing weight.  I WILL be thin again.  Or at least, not fat.

4. If you had to cook something from scratch in the next hour what would it be?
~ The popular vote would probably go to cookies.  Mm-mmm...warm, melty chocolate chip cookies.

5. Have you started Christmas shopping? Decorating? Listening to Christmas music?
~ I have exactly one gift bought and only because it is a signed book and the book signing was last weekend.  I refuse to decorate or listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving...tho' Wally World is forcing me to listen to the music any time I cross through their doors.

6. What do you know about your parent's wedding?
~ They eloped and the ceremony was performed by a one-legged justice of the peace, in the middle of the night, with no witnesses.  Mom always joked about whether or not it was legal.

7. I can't believe I ___________________.
~ Am sitting here procrastinating when I have two papers to type.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ I am totally sickened and disgusted by the mess at Penn State.  Anyone who had a hand in the cover up should be fired.  Period.  Just my humble opinion.  And as for Sandusky's proclamations of innocence saying it was just poor judgement "I never should have showered with those kids........"  Well, no freakin' d'uh!  Showering with kids was about as innocent as Michael Jackson's sleepovers with kids.  Some things, you just DON'T do!

Piano Man takes me back to my first mission trip. We were working on houses in the hills of Tijuana, and someone was blaring it from their car speaker--in Spanish of course!
