Scenes from Christmas 2011

We had a very good Christmas around here.  Probably, as an older man at church used to say, better than we deserved.  Our son was released from the hospital on Friday and he and his family were here most of the day Christmas Eve.  It was a nice time, though he slept most of the afternoon.

On Christmas Day Tim, Megan and I opened gifts in the morning and later my mom, her husband, my aunt and Megan's boyfriend were here. The big adjustment for me was everyone leaving after dinner.  Megan and her boyfriend went to his grandmother's.  Mom's husband had taken a bad fall that morning and I think he was hurting more than he'd  say.  Mom had to take my aunt back to the home and then she went home.  Tim had hurt his back and slept most of the afternoon.

It was very different from any previous Christmas.  I wasn't too happy with the changes, but I've adapted and can overlook a lot of things now.

Our granddaughter playing Santa and passing out gifts.

Our son, who was released from the hospital just in time for Christmas.
He's been fighting a kidney stone and the latest  trial
was a septic (?) infection caught while having the stone removed.

Wearing the cupcake hat my mom knit.

Pedro and the Gorton's Fisherman (lol)...
part of my Santa Claus collection.

Centerpiece I threw together using a bowl that belonged to my
grandmother, old glass ornaments, and candy canes.

More Santas!

My two favorite reindeer.

I guess that's her excited face.

I'm soooo surprised...it's just what I wanted!

Got the husband a tonneau cover for his pick-up truck.
I couldn't think of a good way to wrap it or surprise him.
So....he had to hike up to my mom's basement to see it.

Gracie opening presents.

My 86-yr-old aunt.  She says it was the last Christmas she's
leaving the nursing home for....too hard to get
around and too much trouble.  :(

Mom's husband and Megan's boyfriend admiring my
new Christmas tree ornament.

Love the cupcake hat.

Since we exchange only a few gifts, no such photos to share. But we still had a great day!

Oh! I love your Santa collection--and the centerpiece made from the old ornaments and candy canes. Those ornaments remind me of some we had when I was growing up...

Thanks for stopping by my blog today :)
