Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Woo-hoo!  It's Friday and that means it's time once again for Friday Fragments with Mrs. 4444 and all the other nice fraggers over at Half-Past Kissin' Time.  This is the blog hop where you get to do some house cleaning.  Wait!  It's more fun than it sounds.  By house cleaning, I mean you get to clear the bloggy clutter...all those little bits and pieces floating around in your mind that you want to share, but aren't big enough to be a blog post on their own.

Starting out today's fragments with an award.  Wow!  What a nice surprise and great way to begin the day.  Artistic31Mama (who just happens to be one of my "kids" from back in my youth leader days) has passed on the Liebster Award to my humble little blog.

The Liebster Award is meant to recognize blogs with followings of less than 200.  That is definitely this blog!  LOL  In return for accepting the award, I now have to offer it to 5 more small blogs that I think deserve to be recognized, so here they are, in no particular order:
For you bloggers who choose to accept your award, here's all you have to do:

1) Post the award to your blog.
2) Link back to the blogger who gave the award.
3) Give the award to 5 blogs with less than 200 followers.
4) Leave a comment for each blogger letting them know you have offered them the award.

Simple enough, right?  And a nice way to get smaller blogs, which just may be excellent, known to more readers.

I never realized just how much we use a microwave....until ours died.  Heating food up the old-fashioned way is such a pain.  (I would have made a crummy pioneer.)  Tim's home today and after spending much time researching the matter online....my hopes of a quick, cheap fix have died.  It appears that the capacitator (am I the only one who hears that and can think of nothing but the "flux capacitator" in the Back to the Future car?) is bad.  A new one costs $300 according to the website.  I don't think we paid $300 for the whole microwave 2-3 years ago.

Good news on the financial front.  We've made a bunch of phone calls this morning and the worst of the wolves are at bay for a while longer.  Tim also tells me the hotel project is finally set to begin the week after next (PLEEEEASE no more delays!) and he is definitely going to be running it.  Since it's already months behind due to delays with permits and banks he'll be working plenty of overtime to try and bring it in on time.  Not an immediate relief, but better days are coming.  Yea!!

Warmer weather and the end of the school year drawing closer means the kids on the bus are starting to feel their oats (I'm trying to be nice...can you tell?).  There's not a lot of calm or quiet going on.  The two worst offenders are off the bus all next week.  Somehow or another they managed to get a balloon sucked out the window last week and it stuck to the front of a big truck behind the bus.  When I turned off the highway the trucker laid on the horn.  I don't know if he was mad or just honking at the kids because they were all looking out the back window and carrying on.  I told my boss and she said "Write 'em up!"  So I did.  It's probably the start of a trend as they get more and more excited.

Time for me to find something for lunch (it takes soooo much longer without that darn microwave) so I can head back into work early.  I need to fuel the bus and on Fridays I pick up at a private school before doing the public school runs.

You all have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

You could buy 3 microwaves for the price to fix that one.

My husband drives a bus and he said the kids were super antsy right before spring break. He has assigned seats and puts the trouble makers up front near him. Not ideal but better than the alternative.

Thanks for the award. I won that one last year I think. I love talking about people who don't have a lot of followers. Those are the people who need it the most.

My microwave died last week but my brother brought me his that he doesn't use :) Plus mine was 10 years old. Yours was way too young to die!

Tracy...I have assigned seats, too, and an AIDE for one little boy with problems. The two who are off the bus were up front. They just don't listen at all. One has been seeing a counselor for at least a couple of years. He's a "handful" for me, the school, and his parents. :(

Pegil...Tim found our old one in his workshop and we're using it for now but it's on the counter and doesn't really fit anymore. The new one is mounted over the stove. Go figure...the old one is 23 years old!

I remember how tough the last few weeks of school were from my not so distant teacher days.

I have an extra microwave. It's a mini. Come on over and I'll give it to you! ;)

Keetha...It's like a full moon x 10! LOL

Beth...I saw you all are having tornadoes and nasty stuff right now. I'm not coming anywhere near OK!

Huh oh, I have 222 followers I believe!

You could be easily fooled, on a handful of the same wonderful ones comment on my posts!

Yesterday my kids were overheard saying, "It's almost the end of the year." It most certainly is NOT! We have much to do. Little do they know we are starting a huge research project next month!

Mwahahahaha!

I’ve been following and enjoying your blog for a while now and would like to invite you to visit and perhaps follow me back. Sorry I took so long for the invitation

You are not the only one to get a Back to the Future flashback there.

Ellen...I didn't see a list of followers so I was guessing. At 222, I pronounce you "close enough."

You're an evil teacher. ;)

Covnitkepr1...Thank you for the invite! I'm following.

Wayne...I'm so glad I'm not the only one whose mind works that way. LOL
