I'm starting something new for the weekends. I saw this neat post over at Jamie's blog, My Year of Lovely, and asked her if it would be okay to copy the idea. She gave me her blessing and let me know the idea actually comes from The Simple Woman's Daybook. It's an idea for women who are wanting to focus on simplicity and the beauty of everyday things.
For Today...
Outside my window...the sun is shining, the snow is melting, and the neighborhood seems to be coming alive with the promise of Spring in the air.
I am thinking...that everything needs a good cleaning to be rid of winter's dullness...the vehicles, the dogs, the house.
I am thankful for...my husband's generous spirit.
I am wearing...still my flannel sleep pants and a t-shirt as I have been cleaning and will soon head to the shower.
I am remembering...my grandmother and how we'd sit at her dining room table and watch the birds flock to the feeder she kept filled right outside. We kept a bird book there and would mark each type we saw. So many. So much color. So much hustle and bustle as they jockeyed for a spot on the perch and their fair share. It was one of the pleasantest ways I've ever spent time.
I am going...to church tonight even if Tim doesn't make it home in time. I will pick up his aunt and take her, as well, and we'll have a lovely time. Me, lost in worship and her enjoying the companionship of those who remember the old days.
I am currently reading...several books. A Woman's Higher Calling for Bible study, another weight-loss book, and The Haunting by Shirley Jackson. The last is not my normal fare and is scaring the daylights out of me, but sometimes that is a little bit fun and it is a very well written book so I am enjoying that aspect of it.
I am hoping...to soon be free of this cold. I am tired of coughing and blowing and of the endless sinus headache.
On my mind...my son and his family are coming for a visit tomorrow. We've been to see them a few times, but this will be their first time "home" since Christmas Day.
Noticing that...there are not enough hours in a weekend to accomplish all that needs doing or that I want to do.
Pondering these words...What if you woke up tomorrow with only what you thanked God for yesterday?
In the kitchen...nothing today. I am not even cooking something for the fellowship meal after church. I will stop and pick something up.
Around the house...I have been in a decluttering mode. I'm trying to eliminate a lot of "stuff". I'm running into resistance, however, my own and the family's.
One of my favorite things...the first Spring day that is warm enough to open the windows and let the fresh air blow out Winter's staleness.

I liked this...
We have no problems getting rid of clutter here! We have become minimalists since our trans-Pacific move and we like it that way!
I so want to hire a dumpster to put in my driveway so I can just toss things w/abandon.
What kind of dog is that? Looks like our beagle/basset mix.
Ellen...I thought you might. :)
Quilly...I fear I'm too much of a saver to ever live clutter free, but it's my dream to win the lottery, gut my house, and then refurnish it from IKEA. I love all the clean lines and how there is a place for EVERYTHING.
Amy...A beagle/basset is exactly what he is. His name is Elvis. :) I wuv my Bagel!
