Another Good Weekend

Megan and I went to see "Country Strong" last night.  It was going to be just the two of us, but we took along Jake, who is just about the sweetest kid you'd ever want to meet.  He's sweet on Megan and he's actually the kind of guy you'd want your daughter to fall for.  Unfortunately for all, he's 15 to her 18.  Maybe he'll still be around in a few years when that difference won't matter, because Megan is the first one to say "if only he was older...."  Anyway, the movie was good, though not at all a "feel good" story.  It was totally depressing.  It had great music if you like country....and we do.  We want the soundtrack.  Doesn't hurt that my mom tells me my cousin who writes hit songs for VERY BIG names in country had a hand in writing some of the music for the movie.

Church was great last night.  The service was very moving and uplifting and we celebrated communion.  Got the books for the new Bible study beginning this week and gave a couple I ordered to my friend (and pastor) to look over for future use.  The constitution has been approved so we can begin taking official memberships now and electing officers.  I've been asked to head up the nominating and election process.  My friend and her husband stopped by this afternoon just for a few minutes to talk with us and pray just because Tim wasn't able to make it last night.  That was a surprise, but so nice!  I'd forgotten how nice it is to be a part of a church and have a "family" there to count on.

This evening we went to see our friend who had colon cancer.  He has been home for a week now following surgery.  He is weak, frustrated, a little depressed, but determined to make the adjustments to life lived with "the bag" and live it to the fullest.  In spite of all that, he looked healthier than we've seen him look in a good while.

Tim's long gone to bed since he still has to get up at 4:00 tomorrow.  Me?  I have the day off for Presidents' Day.  I'm sure they'd have taken it back to make up for one of the snow days we've had, but it's a parent-teacher conference day.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Your answers to those questions are also my answers. I have no interest in the royal wedding. I mean, if they aren't relatives or friends, do I really want to know who is invited or what they are serving at the reception??

You're right...in a few years, a three year difference may not be all that big of a deal.

Chocolate Covered Daydreams...exactly my feelings about the wedding. All the upset over the Obamas not being invited...it's a wedding not a state function and the couple doesn't "know" the Obamas, I'm sure the Obamas haven't shared in their lives so far. Why would they want to invite them??

Tim's a smart boy, he likes older women. Another GREAT movie about singers and country music (which I have to admit isn't my favorite) is "Crazy Heart" with Jeff Bridges who I've had a crush on for a long time. I couldn't believe how much I loved the movie but again very bittersweet and sad. Amazing performances though. Have you seen it? Sending out healing blessings to your friend.

Haven't seen Crazy Heart, Wendy, but it's on my list. Should be out on DVD one of these days. I've seen Jeff Bridges sing other times and he is very good.

I like that word. Well done. I gotta wonder if the Obama's are somewhat relieved.

Thanks for playing!

Harriet...I know, right. What on Earth do you get a Prince for a wedding gift? A toaster oven just doesn't seem right. :P

LOL Stacy, we may have said it differently buy we pretty much matched on #1 & #2. Oh, winter's made a come back alright. I couldn't get out of my driveway to go to work today. (I'm not exactly torn up about that.) Have a wonderful week!

Shawnna...yeah, I noticed that. Winter? We've gotten about 4 inches of snow this evening and it's still coming down like crazy. I may have tomorrow off after all.

You have a great week, too!
