The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...

Outside my window...
the rain is falling, but it's okay.  It's still warm and the rain is helping everything growing come back to life after a long, cold winter.

I am thinking...about all the things I should be doing rather than sitting here.  There is a lot I want to get done today since we don't have anywhere we have to go.

I am thankful for...my husband and his ability to do absolutely anything that needs doing around the house.  Currently he's putting a ceiling fan in the kitchen.  After that it's on to a new double curved shower curtain rod in the bathroom and an arbor over the front sidewalk for my Wisteria vine.

I am wearing...jeans and a Toby Keith t-shirt.

I am remembering...my dad.  Tim and I were talking about stuff this morning at Lowe's and it got me remembering a lot of things about Dad.

I am going...to get at that to-do list as soon as I finish this.

I am currently reading...On Hummingbird Wings by Lauraine Snelling.  It's very good.

I am hoping...our brother-in-law is going to be okay.  He was rushed to the hospital this morning.  The thinking is that he had a stroke, but CT scans didn't or couldn't show anything and he can't have an MRI because of metal in his shoulder so they have to wait until tomorrow to run other tests.  In the meantime, one side of his face is drooping and his speech is messed up.

On my mind...the rising cost of everything and the fact that when school ends for the summer we'll have less income.  I get unemployment through the summer, but it's a little less than half my pay.

Noticing that...going more openly Christian on my blog seems to have scared away a lot of my visitors.

Pondering these words...Don't carry a grudge.  While you're carrying the grudge the other guy's out dancing.  ~ Buddy Hackett

In the kitchen...dirty dishes, furniture shoved all over the place, lots of dust and little bits of wire, etc.  Well, I am getting a fan installed.

Around the house...there is too much stuff.  Our house is small and we are all collectors of, well, stuff.  It doesn't take much to start looking cluttered.  I need to do some serious decluttering.

One of my favorite things...surprise, unplanned moments when my 18 year old daughter and I get along.  I hang on to those very tightly these days and pull the memories out repeatedly to get me through the not so wonderful times.

I get zero or few comments when I write about anything God related (well, other than the fact EVERYTHING is God related). It is weird.

My wonder is why can't people see that I'm still me with God in my life?

It's a tough call with the blog. Several years ago I had a fairly successful "Christian" blog. Lots of hits and comments, but all from other Christian bloggers. It's a rather closed network. I don't want to be limited that much, but it just might go with the territory. :/
