Hodgepodge Extra Credit

1. Share a favorite song lyric.  I better not see 'I can't think of one' on anybody's paper. That's an automatic F in the Wednesday Hodgepodge you know.
~ I've tried to live my life "F" free and don't want to end the streak now, so here are several great song lyrics.  Do I get bonus points or extra credit?

I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind
I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time

From "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down

I walk downtown in my broke down shoes
To the side street pub with the bar band blues
Take a backseat at the front door table
Order me a Bud and a shot of Black Label
From "Somewhere Else" by Toby Keith

There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He says, Son can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes
From "Piano Man" by Billy Joel

Oh, and there we were all in one place, a generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick 'cause fire is the devil's only friend
From "American Pie" by Don McClean

Yeah I think I'll make me some homemade soup
Feelin' pretty good and that's the truth
It's neither drink nor drug induced
No Im just doin' alright
From "It's a Great Day to be Alive" by Travis Tritt

2. When was the last time someone yelled at you?
~ Megan and I "disagreed" yesterday about the wisdom of scheduling her tattoo at a time when she'd have to take off work at the new job she hasn't even started yet.  She "disagreed" with my take on it quite loudly.

3. Money, fame, happiness...are they mutually exclusive?
~ No, but a lot of money can bring more problems than it solves and there is a definite down-side to fame.  I think a person can have all three if they can manage to stay grounded in faith and family.

4. What is your favorite dish to prepare for family and friends that doesn't require turning on the stove, oven or an outdoor grill?
~ I don't suppose take-out counts as me preparing it?  I give up.  Everything I've thought of at least requires boiling water.

5. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week. What is one thing you could do this week to simplify your life? Will you do it?
~ Clean out the kitchen cupboards and reorganize them.  Will I do it?  Not this week.

6. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being 100% and 1 being not at all) how tuned in are you to your country's national political scene?
~ Most of the time I'd say I'm an 8-9.  Once in a while I might slip lower if I'm really busy, but I try to stay informed and educated so I can make wise decisions come election time.  I'll sign petitions and write letters to if I'm moved strongly enough.  I donate money and time to things I believe in.

7. What are your final parting words to the month of July?
~ Adios, amigo...not gonna miss ya!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ My body is a temple and I have a tattoo (and want another).  It's not desecrating, it's decorating.

Love the song lyrics..I almost used Piano Man. The words are like poetry.

They are. I love songs (and books for that matter) that paint a vivid picture with words. In Piano Man you can just "see" all the people he talks about in the bar.

I think the toilet paper holder is free...maybe not.

I started a bag for Goodwill yesterday and I didn't even know this was NSYLW. How about that?

Of course, then I promised Brad I'd hem the curtains. So much for simplicity.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my hodgepodge post!

Love Billy Joel...don't listen to him much, but like his music!

Spy...Eric Weiss (Greg Grunberg)from Alias...although Pierce Brosnon is my favorite James Bond...007 gets around way to much for my liking...steady and faithful suits me better :)

Love Billy Joel!

Tucker eats people food too- our dogs always have. But they eat their dog food as well.

I'm addicted to Angry Birds right now-how embarrassing. LOL

I breastfed the lovelies no matter where I was and dared anyone to say a word.

Clowns don't bother me unless Stephen King is involved.

Cool meme!

My dogs are food stealers. I just got a puppy over the weekend, and she tried to steal and entire slice of pizza off my plate when I looked away for a second. Luckily I got it away from her before she made a big mess with it

Love, Love, Love American Pie! We actually spent about a week in my High School Senior English class going through the lyrics and deciphering their meanings - It was really really interesting.
