Red Hot Chili Hodgepodge

Based on yesterday's input, I guess I am here to stay, but maybe I'll cut back on how many memes I do....and apparently I'm a little long-winded, so I'll try to be a bit more concise.  Probably.  Maybe.  Don't hold your breath.  I'm a ramblin' kinda woman.

Wednesday Hodgepodge is NOT one of the memes I'll be cutting back on so with kudos to Joyce for coordinating us every week, here's this week's Hodgepodge...

1. Do you like chili? Red or white? Beans or no beans? Spice or no spice? Toppings?
~ I don't think I've ever had white chili.  I don't remember it if I did.  That could just be the brain jumping gears again, though.  Anywhoo...I love it red, with beans, and a little spice.  I used to like it a LOT spicy, but since I've got this thing going on with my mouth that makes eating anything spicy somewhat like gargling with acid...a little spice will do.  Oh, and there's got to be cheddar cheese melted on top.

2. Red-orange-gold...your favorite fall color?
~ Orange if you're going to force me to choose just one, but I like all three together best.  My living room and kitchen are painted Pumpkin Spice and accented with reds, greens, golds and more orange.

3. Who did you idolize when you were growing up?
~ My very first idol was Roy Rogers.  Seriously.  His shows were on in reruns when I was around 4 or 5 and I thought he was the greatest thing ever.  The Lone Ranger was next after that.  And then hormones reared their ugly head and I went over the moon for Donny Osmond.  Really, though, I'd have to say my grandmother.  She was the most amazing woman I've ever known.

4. When was the last time you did something 'arts and craftsy'? Share please.
~ I am really not an artsyfartsycrafty person, so I'm going to guess 2002....I helped the kids on a mission trip make a Noah's Ark wall hanging out of approximately 3,798,241 pieces of felt.

5. What's a place that makes you really nervous?
~ On stage.  I do not like getting up in front of people at all.  I will, if it's required, but I will also suck at it because I'll be so nervous all my spit dries up and I can't talk right...which won't really matter because my brain will have gone blank and my mouth will just be spewing out whatever it can dig up.

6. Horseback riding...yay or nay (neigh?)
~ Definitely, YAY!  I was a horsey girl growing up.  You know the type...they eat, sleep, and dream about horses.  I had riding lessons and rode every chance I got, though I never had a horse of my own (which I consider to be my greatest childhood trauma).  It's been a long time since I've ridden, but I have to say, if I won the lottery and got to buy that small farm/ranch I've always dreamed of....the first thing I'd do is find a horse.

7. What's your favorite cliche?
~ Hmmm...I use quite a few.  They're very apt at certain times, you know, or they wouldn't be cliches.  I guess a couple of the ones I use most are:
If you don't expect anything, you won't be disappointed.
Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Life's tough, get a helmet.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ Tim stinks.  He doesn't diet.  In fact, he eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants and however much of it he wants.  He's lost 16 pounds.  His sugar is fine.  His bloodpressure has come down.  His cholesterol is only slightly elevated.  This from a man who eats all the wrong stuff and waaay too much of it and doesn't exercise at all.  Life is just not fair.

Haha I like Life is tough and get a helmet. That should be my boys motto.

Oh I can picture the Noahs Ark and all those pieces. That is not my idea of fun crafting. I'm actually not very crafty but I have my moments.

My hubs is the same in the eating whatever they want category but staying trim and pretty healthy...it is so not fair. He's having ice cream every night, I'm eating carrot sticks, and he loses weight. ugh.

Oh...your #8 is so true! Life is just not fair! I remember the pretty girl that everyone loved when I was growing up. She never got zits and could go around with no makeup and still looked like a beauty queen. When you're 17, that sucks.

Roy Rogers! I think my husband would say someone like that. I can't talk in front of a crowd but I wish I could. Haven't heard that silk purse one.

Okay, I'm glad someone else didn't know what white chili was. Oh wait, you just don't remember if you had it. Ha.

Life's tough get a helmet! Haha Love it!

I also like red chili, with beans and cheddar cheese.

Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger...wonderful people to idolize.
Better yet is your Grandmother.
That is such a blessing.

As a child I loved any chance to be on stage, be the center of attention :)
As an adult, the one time I had to get on stage my knees buckled and I could barely talk. So embarrassing.

I like your cliches. They are new to me. My favorite is: `Life's tough, get a helmet.`
