Around 11:40 the dogs barked and woke us up. Meg was home. She didn't come in right away, which is normal. The boyfriend smokes, which he isn't allowed to do inside the house, so they often stand out in the driveway while he smokes a cigarette. However, at 12:00 Meg came to our bedroom door, called my name and burst into tears, and said "I don't know what to do."
Good grief, is she trying to kill me? Nothing like that in the middle of the night to get the adrenalin pumping.
What's wrong???
And out poured the story.
It seems, that my
Damage done? She had her ID, her bank card, insurance card, house key (cute since with her ID they also have our address), and $400 digital camera in there. Along with what she describes as her "life." All the important stuff was in there. The cards we can cancel...hopefully before any damage is done. The camera? Well, that really ticks me off. It should bug her, too, because it had the same memory card it's always had so she's lost all her pictures from the last two years...including the ones from her trip to Australia.
We told her to call the police. They came to talk to her around 2:30 this morning and never shut their headlights (which were shining directly into our bedroom) off the whole time they were here. The alarm went off at 4:00.
I don't know who I'm angrier at. Meg for being so careless or the jerks who stole her purse.
Or maybe just the whole world.
Lack of sleep makes me cranky.
And how was your night?

Hm, I went to bed at 9:30 and just got up at 5:30. Still tired, but the night itself was uneventful.
Your daughter went to Australia???
OMG that really sucks.
Oh my! I am so sorry.
I went to bed at 11:30, got up at 6:30 to fix breakfast for hubby and son. After they left for school and work I went back and laid down for about an hour.
Now I am ready to begin my day with reading blogs and washing clothes.
I hope your day is uneventful.
Ellen...You're not helping my crankyness by rubbing in a full night's sleep. ;) And yes, she went to Australia. We MADE her go for three weeks, horrible, mean, abusive parents that we are.
Tee...Yeah, it does.
Michelle...so far so good. Jake (my trainer) had me doing exercises that he said were good for taking out my anger...like slamming a 15 lb. ball onto the floor repeatedly. Oddly enough, I do feel better.
But how's the floor?
Hi Stacy....so sorry about Meg's purse!!! Since it was the county fair...not the state fair, do you think offering a small reward might help? Just a thought.
I give you a link in my blog today! Girl, you are one smart cookie.
Hope your day is better than your night was.
Hugs,
Cheryl
Cheryl...I never thought of a reward. I'll have to mention that to Tim. I'm kind of afraid the camera is probably long gone to a pawn shop, though.
Thanks for the linky love! That improved my day a whole bunch. :)
I feel so sorry for her. No matter how much we tell them the "live and learn" always seems to work the best. Unfortunately that means she has lost some very special things. Give her a ((HUG)) from me.
Debby...Will do. I know she can use it. She is very upset about the camera.
