It's Okay Tuesday - Oct. 11

Photobucket

It's Okay Tuesday, where we allow ourselves to be okay about our little "quirks," is the brainchild of WhisperingWriter over at Airing My Dirty Laundry, One Sock at a Time. She borrowed the idea from Glamour Magazine and we all like it so much it's become an official meme. So....here we go!

HEY, IT'S OKAY...

...to have not been following the mess on Wall Street at all.
I've been busy.  I've had papers to write.
I've had computer woes.  Our son and his family were here.
I was getting grandma time.
And who wants to see a bunch of disgruntled hippy-wannabe's
have public sex and poop on police cars??

...to laugh my butt off at Toby Keith's new song/video,
even though my brain cells are probably dying in protest.

...to wish my daughter-in-law the best in her desire to become
a vegan (no animal products at all!), but it's not for me.
I like meat.  I like cheese.  I like bakery products that actually
have eggs in them.  Please don't tell me how
how gross processing plants are.  They're butchering animals...
it's not going to be Disneyland.

...to be watching Biggest Loser for the first time because
Bigg Vinny (Mack) Hickerson from the country group,
Trailer Choir, is on.  He and the former NFL player are pretty
darned inspiring.  I became Vinny's friend on Facebook today
just so I can see what he has to say between shows.

...to want a smart phone now that I've seen what my daughter's can do.
And be a little miffed that I can't swing one for me right now
because we pay for both of the kids to have one.  It's an extra $30/month/phone
for data.  They are supposed to pay us that much.  The son doesn't.
We will see how the daughter does.  Yes....I've thought of
cutting his data, butt it's tied to the phone and the contract.
Stuck with it until the contract runs out.

...to be really excited it's only two weeks until the Relevant Conference
in Harrisburg, PA.  My good blog friend, Beth, will be getting on
a train in Oklahoma on the 24th or 25th and coming here so we can
drive out together.  I can't wait to meet her in person...and to get
away for three glorious days!

That's all I've got this week, so this is where it ends.
Have yourselves a great Tuesday!
Peace out.

Oh good - I'm not the only one who posts H.I.O.Tuesday early!

The next time your daughter-in-law starts carrying on about veganism, just turn it around - do a bit of research and start trying to convert her to an absolutely carnivorous lifestyle.

When she flips out about it (and she will) just tell her that's how you feel about being preached to.

My son was a vegetarian for a few years, but he kept his views to himself. I like that about him.

;)

As for the phone thing, I've had trouble getting $$ from my son, so I don't finance anything for him any more. This makes me mean since he's a broke grad student. But he's also 25, so he gets it.

You are very generous with your children!

Chantelle...she doesn't preach very much, just mentions it now and then. I was just saying in general. I don't think I can convert her to the dark side (carnivorous). She did that for a while after meeting my son...she gains weight when she eats meat and dairy.

Ellen...Matt is 25, too. Tim and I agree that when his contract is up he is on his own for the phone. Well, Tim says he agrees and will tell him, but it will probably fall to me. Tim does everything he can to avoid being the bad guy. He also wants to be able to reach the kids no matter what and if we aren't paying for the phone, that might not be the case. That's why it's gone on for so long now.
