So, before it gets any later.... let's get on with the business of Fragments and Fill-Ins.

Still no grandson. My son called this morning on his way to work and said that as of now (the way this is going that could, and probably will change) the doctor plans to induce labor on Sunday. Of course, this new plan finds us out of town for the day, but if Aeden makes his appearance as planned, we should be able to swing by the hospital on our way home and meet him.
As you can tell by my dividers this week....The Steelers' summer training camp is in session. It's here. In my town. About 4 miles from my house. I went all the time when I was a kid, but that was back in the glory days of the 70s and you could get close to the players to talk to them, take pictures and get autographs. Now they schedule times, people come from all over the world and the crowds are ridiculous. Traffic can get pretty bad when the practices are letting out, but otherwise it doesn't affect life much....unless you want to go out to eat on a Friday night during training camp. All the restaurants in town are PACKED.
My favorite player back in the day, quarterback Cliff Stoudt. |
We're beginning to think Megan didn't get the job at the hotel after all. They told her she had it and said they'd be calling to schedule her to come in to get measured for uniforms and since then......nothing. She called and left a couple of messages but hasn't heard anything back. I'm taking her to put in more applications today. I sure hope we have some luck. This kid needs a job!

I've been doing lots of reorganizing this week. I moved all the furniture in the living room (bought a new magazine that gave me some ideas) and not that they needed it or anything, I emptied out the kitchen cabinets and the pantry and threw away things that were past their expiration date and put everything back (not necessarily in its original location) in nice neat order. Want to place bets on how long it's going to last?
Megan did okay at the hearing.on Wednesday. If you recall, she was subpoenaed to testify in a hearing about a former employer. The woman owned a daycare and knowingly allowed her husband, a previously convicted sex offender, unsupervised access. He is currently in prison for molesting his own grandchildren!! The hearing was to determine whether the woman should also be tried. Megan reported that the woman sat there and laughed at everything being said...which just makes me that much happier to report that she is going to trial. Couldn't happen to a "nicer" person.
Remember that fender-bender I was in back on July 14? I finally got the new bumper on my car yesterday. Wow. They did such a good job and even cleaned and polished the whole thing. It looks so pretty! The best part is that it didn't cost me a dime. It was all the other guy's fault so it's on his insurance.
This week’s statements:
- I have no desire ___
- I love the smell of ___because____
- I wish that my ___________ would magically_________
- In one month I ____________
My answers:
1. I have no desire to go sky diving, bungee jumping, parachuting or anything else that could result in my remains needing to be picked up with a spatula.
2. I love the smell of fresh roasted peanuts because it reminds me of going to the county fair with my grandmother.
3. I with that my house would magically grow either bigger rooms or more rooms.
4. In one month I will have kissed another summer goodbye and be back to work.

Brad was seriously considering going skydiving with a church group. The only thing that stopped him was the "no refund if it rains" policy.
Yeesh.
Will this grandson be your first? They are such a joy.
I would love it if my house grew larger too!
I went skydiving over a Florida beach once. Mostly over water, and it was a scream. However, I liked your response: nothing that means I need to be scraped with a spatula. Good one.
Where did the summer go? I love your memory with your grandmother, how sweet.
Ellen...No refund if it rains is what stopped him?? Yeeesh, indeed. Must be a guy thing. Tim wants more than anything to bungee jump off the New River Gorge bridge (they allow it one day a year). I think maybe I've held him off to an age where he won't do it.
Keetha...This will be our second grandchild, but first grandson.
Jennifer...Wouldn't it be awesome? Like one of those ACME houses they'd order in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons...just pull cord and stand back?
Laurie...Thanks. You are far braver than I.
Lucy...It has really flown hasn't it?
I have a lot of desire to do thrill seeker stuff...
Hillary...You go, girl! You can have my share. ;)
I wish everyone had summers off. I think we would be happier if we either had summers off or were forced to take a week vacation. Doodle is so stressed but feels he cannot take time off.
