Wednesday Hodgepodge - Cranked to Vol. 87

Good morning and welcome to Vol. 87 of the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  (Has it really been that long?!)  Thanks to Joyce @ From This Side of the Pond for thinking up the questions each week.  Pay her a visit for the rules if you want to join in or to see the list of participating bloggers.

1. I'm joining my daughter1 in the 101 in 1001 challenge. Essentially you create a list of 101 things you hope to do or accomplish in the next 1001 days. What's one thing you'd put on your list?
~ Lose weight even if it kills me.  I haven't been doing so well, but God's really been working on that whole thing about my body being his temple thing and....well....I really should be providing him with better digs.

2. How many remote controls do you have in your house? What's one item in your home you wish could be operated by remote control?
~ My daughter.  Time to get up?  *click*  That mountain of laundry in the hall needs washed?  *click*  Guinea Pig cage needs cleaned?  *click*  Getting a whole lot of sass?  *mute*

3. What does having it all mean to you? Is it attainable?
~ To me, having it all means having loved and cherished family and friends in my life; a relationship with God through Jesus as my Savior; enough financially to be not be without food, clothing or shelter; a fulfilling purpose to my life; and lastly, contentment and peace with life as it is.  Yes, I think it's attainable.

4. What's your favorite movie soundtrack?
~  I'm torn....  I really like the Forrest Gump sound track, but I guess maybe I like this one a little bit more....

5. Describe the best view you've seen from a rooftop.
~ It wasn't exactly a rooftop, but Kennywood Park has this ride called The Pitfall.  It's one of those rides where they strap you into seats that encircle a central column and then raise you up slowly about 1000 feet to the top of the column.  There's an absolutely amazing 360 degree view of Pittsburgh and the surrounding hills from up there.  You get about 10 seconds to enjoy it before the brakes let go and you fall back to earth.  I recommend peeing before you board.  LOL

6. What's your least favorite thing about summer?
~ I don't know.  I've got a couple of things that might qualify.  I really miss the days when my kids were around and the house was full of neighborhood kids all summer....the quiet gets to me sometimes.  I kind of dislike that everyone goes AWOL in the summer and it's hard to get together with people because they're all so busy.  It also kind of stinks that 3 months off work means 3 months of less income.

7. Our weekly Hodgepodge falls on the first day of August. In ten words or less sum up your July.
~ Routine, hot, wet, expensive, a little lonely, but definitely blessed.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ I've got two thoughts today.  The first, please send up a prayer for my daughter.  She's been subpoenaed to testify against a previous employer....a daycare owner who knowing let her husband, a man with previous convictions for molesting children, have free, unrestricted and unsupervised access to the daycare and the children there.  He is already in jail...for molesting HIS OWN GRANDCHILDREN!

This is just the hearing to determine if the woman should be tried in court.  Megan is scared witless.

~ And the second thought, from Mike Huckabee:

I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A
company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick Fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story. Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick Fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with

over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO.It's a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.

The Chick Fil-A company refuses to open on Sundays so that their employees can go to church if they wish. Despite the pressure from malls, airports, and the business world to open on Sundays, they still don't. They treat customers and employees with respect and dignity.

I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm
traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant. This effort is not being launched by the Chick Fil-A company and no one from the company or family is
involved in proposing or promoting it.

There's no need for anyone to be angry or engage in a verbal battle. Simply affirm appreciation for a company run by Christian principles by showing up on Wednesday, August 1 or by participating online – tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.

That ride sounds like my worst nightmare : ) Except the view...I'd like the view!

I will be praying for your daughter today. I'm sure it's a difficult and painful situation. I'd eat a chicken sandwich today but sadly, no Chick-fil-A here. I'm with them in spirit though!

Joyce...The bad thing about the ride is that right about the time you're thinking "Wow, what a view!" Down you go! I went once. That's all I need to go. Thanks for the prayers for my girl. She just posted that she's stilling waiting to be called and she's a nervous wreck.

Hey, accountability partner? Hello? Boy, we let that slide, eh?

#7? Mine has been similar. Money is tight, stayed closed to home, still good though.

I agree with Jill. My temple has become a bit squishy. I'm not overweight but I want to be more fit. Why is it as we age upper arms swing on their own and stomachs pop out? Sorry God.
