On the Subject of Writing

I used to be really good at this.  This, being blogging.  I wrote every day.  Maybe it wasn't anything of much importance.  Okay, there's a better than average chance it wasn't.  The point is....I wrote.  Then something happened.  Several somethings, actually.

First, I made the acquaintance of MySpace.  It was so much fun trading comments and funny pictures and wasn't customizing your profile page absolutely addicting?!  There were so many options.  It was like nothing I'd done before.  Instant hook.

Then came a kind of dark, painful period in my life.  I moved away from God, got cynical, and spent a lot of time wallowing in my pain and disappointment.  My writing during this time came from a dark place and while the blog drew a good many readers I couldn't handle it.  That's when I turned to memes and for a while that's nearly all I did.  Day after day...and they weren't exactly edifying ones, either.  They were rather cynical and sarcastic and my answers followed suit.  Wildly popular, but I was getting tired of it at just about the time....things imploded.  I'm not going to get into it here, but suffice it to say, I got called on it and I pulled the plug on that blog.  Something I should have done long before that.

Facebook entered my life during the life of that blog, too.  Oh my.  If there is a bigger time-sucking vortex out there I have no idea where it is...oh wait....Pinterest just might fill those shoes.

I started this blog almost immediately after ending the old one.  I was in a better place and I wanted a new blog to reflect that.  I think I've done a fair job of that here.  Maybe can let me know.  I've tried to share my rededication to the Lord and the changes in my life without getting too preachy.  I still resort participate in several memes but they're good ones.  The problem is the rest of the time.  I have been having one ginormous, unending case of writer's block.  Inspiration just doesn't seem to strike all that often these days.

A friend's blog led me to a great list of memes that I'm sure I'm going to be getting some inspiration from in the coming days (weeks, months, years.....).  I hope to find memes with a purpose or that make you think.  The silly ones are fun, but you can only take so much of them.  Anyway, my promise to you, my faithful readers (all 2 of you) is that I'm going to do my best to put fingers to keyboard and tap something out every day.  Sundays being the exception.

Dear Stacy,
#1 You are still good at this blogging thing. But it does not define you. You are more than a blogger. ANd you are loved. Not to be corny but obviously by our God...and also by me. I consider you dear...Dear!
After know I find inspiration everywhere BUT it does not all need to be shared. SOmetimes when we think too hard about what we want to say, or post, it causes "block". Just enjoy your Him and just draw from your life, and those little things that God places before you that others walk by. You would be surprised how often the smallest observations lead to the biggest Ah-ha moments...
Just have fun! I find once I start to feel pressure...that is not from my God, it is from myself, the world etc.

When I just enjoy God and or whatever the day brings (or sometimes when I am not enjoying it but getting insight anyway-not ALWAYS fun) I find myself inspired.
Hope this wasn't too preachy. But for sure your post even today is sweet. Honest, true and real. So just be You...that's what brought me (and others) here in the first place...
One of my favorite links is Five Minute Fridays with Lisa Jo at Gypsy Mama! Fun and well, even when I don't love the prompt who can't write random for 5 minutes? SOmetimes I write some fun or deep stuff there , sometimes I am like, ok then- what was that? . Whatever!
Hugs, Dawn

I used to blog more too, but life gets in the way, and that's okay!

It's good to have a life. :)

THREE ... I haven't been faithful lately but I'm back! :) I'm glad you like the meme list. I sent you the code ... did it travel okay?

Love you!

Dawn....I love you, girl. You are one beautiful soul and I get so much out of the things God gives you to share. Thank you for the encouragement and advice. It means a lot.

Ellen....Yes, it is! That's a little of the problem since school started back up. I feel like I'm on the go all day. Writing, though, is something I've always felt compelled to do. It drives me nuts when I don't do it. So....I'm going to do my best to share a little something everyday.

Beth....I am so glad you're back with us! The code did arrive safely. At least I'm assuming that's what the "gibberish" in the e-mail is. LOL
