The Banishing Hodgepodge

Yea!  It's time to join up with Joyce and everyone else for the Wednesday Hodgepodge, the coolest midweek meme around.

1. Lake Superior University has once again published a list of words/phrases they think should be banished from the Queen's English...here's the list for 2013-

fiscal cliff, kick the can down the road, double down, job creators/creation, passion/passionate, yolo (an acronym for you only live once), spoiler alert, bucket list, trending, superfood, boneless wings, and guru

Which of these words/phrases would you most like to see banished from everyday speech and why. Go here to read more about how the words were chosen.
~ While greatly over used, none of those really bother me to the point of wanting to banish them.  I guess I'd pick either yolo, just because it's stupid, or guru because it's just too new agey for me.

2.  When was the last time you rode a train?  Where did you go?
~ It's been a while and I'm guessing it was a round trip....around center court at the mall, the zoo, kiddie land at the local amusement park, or Disney World.

3. Bagels-yay or nay?  Favorite 'flavor'?  Favorite topping?
~ Yay!  I got some really yummy pizza ones this week at the supermarket, but my all time favorite is blueberry.

4.  'Tis the season of awards shows...if you could star in a movie already made which one would you choose?
~ Any romantic mushy one.....as long as I get to substitute Toby Keith in for the male lead.

5. The move towards single gender classrooms has been making the news in recent months....what say you?  Do you think kids perform better if seperated by gender and are taught differently or is that discrimination?  If you're a parent, is this something you'd support in regard to your own children?
~ My kids are grown, but I don't know that I'd be in favor.  Maybe they could seperate them for a few things and blend them for others?

6. What's your favorite thing about staying in a hotel?
~ Escaping the "to do" list at home.  I can just relax because I'm not looking at a bunch of jobs that need done.

7. Do you have a 'word' for 2013?  What's the story behind your choice?
~ Yes, it's intentional.  You can read the reason here.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day.

Really like your random thought. And I love the idea of casting your own male lead in your movie! : )

I think I'm going to have to try a blueberry bagel after finding out it is so many people's favorite :)

My all time favorite bagel is Cinnamon Crunch at Panera but the crazy thing is ridiculously high in all sorts of bad stuff! Probably why it's so good!

Your hotel answer is exactly what I was trying to explain to my husband about why I like to go out for lunch alone. I'm alone at home but there are a ton of things to do. If I go out it's just me and my book and someone else does the dishes!
