Sunday Morning Simplicity

Visit the Simple Woman site.
Outside my window... a cool, but brilliantly sunny morning.

I am thinking... that I stayed up half the night for nothing.  I'd hope to see the Northern Lights since we were in the very small area being touted as "good" for viewing last night, but neither the clouds nor the Lights cooperated.

I am thankful for... the fun I have with my Christian friends.  I have been both Christian and not and I can honestly say I've never had more fun or laughed more than I have with Christians.  We are not the dull, dry, no-fun, sticks in the mud the media makes us out to be.  Christians have a deep joy nobody else can touch.

I am wearing... pj's and my favorite pink and white striped fuzzy robe.  Hey, it's Sunday and I'm not moving much yet.

I am remembering... our last home in Florida.  About a year after we moved back to Pennsylvania Tim's mom sent us a news clipping about a huge 20 ft. python pulled out from under a house that was about 5 or 6 down the street from the house we had lived in.  The article said the snake had probably been there for a few years without anyone knowing because people had been reporting small pets missing.  Can I just say how glad I am that I didn't know that when we lived there?  I am more afraid of snakes than anything.  I would have had a coronary on the spot if they had pulled that sucker out while I was there!

I am going... to visit my aunt today.  She was in the hospital for congestive heart failure this week, but is back at the nursing home.  I think the family is going to have to have a fight with the home....Mom and a cousin were comparing notes and they have come to believe that the staff is neglectful, letting her sit with empty oxygen canisters quite frequently when she is supposed to be on oxygen all the time.  She is without every single time anyone visits.  They change it when you point it out.

I am currently reading... a book about psychopaths and whether they are born that way or conditions create them.  It's another free download on my Nook and not something I probably would have chosen otherwise, but it's fascinating.

I am hoping... to get out with Megan this summer to take pictures.  She is developing a real interest in photography so maybe she'll agree to take walks at local parks to look for subject matter.

On my mind... that while I don't particularly like Kid Rock's mouth, I have to give him kudos for the way he's giving back to his fans.  He has capped tickets for his current tour at $20 and he refuses to sell tickets for the front two rows....instead he sends his roadies out to find people in the back and bring them up front.

Noticing that... neither the flu nor the other viruses floating around this winter seem to be going away.  We've been lucky so far and have only been hit the one time at Christmas, but I see it with the kids on the bus and at church...it's just going around and around and around and everyone is having a hard time shaking it.  It lingers for weeks.  A peek at the future?

Pondering these words... All is grace.

In the kitchen... leftover Hobo Beans and as always (it seems that way) dirty dishes waiting for my attention.

Around the house..not much is going on yet.  Tim is snoring on the couch, normal for a Sunday, and Megan is still in bed having been out late fishing (yesterday was the first day of trout season), Elvis is stretched out on the floor near my chair, and Daisy is vying for space on my lap with the laptop.

One of my favorite things... junking, picking, flea markets, auctions, garage sales, etc.  The hope of finding that "big" find.  I am amazed when I watch the shows on TV about these things now and how "cool" it's all become.  My grandfather did that his whole life.  He had three large buildings full of stuff.  When he died it took three days of auctions to clear them out!  I learned to love it all from him.  Tim's got a bit of it in him, too, but he kind of "specializes" in building materials, tools and the like.  I'm just always on the lookout for a treasure of any kind.

A picture...

Looking forward to being able to enjoy my pond again.

I truly hope I never have to be at the mercy of a nursing home! Seems like I hear more bad about those places than I do good! Praying for your aunt!
