Forgiveness

Yikes, I am sore today!  Sore as in, I want to cry every time I sit down and getting up requires grabbing hold of something and pulling myself up.  I've popped some ibuprofen and will soon be heading to the gym...where thankfully, I am not doing strength training today, but working out on the treadmill and bike.

I promised a book review on my book blog today.  That will be up later.

Here's the usual Wednesday meme courtesy of Joyce at From This Side of the Pond.

1. If you could work for any one government agency which would you choose and why?
~ I think I'm going to have to go with the Smithsonian.  I love history and mysteries and think it would be very cool to work hands-on with that.

2. How difficult is it for you to forgive someone who refuses to apologize?
~ If the "hurt" is fresh or especially deep, it can take a while to let go of that, but I do try and am usually successful.  It helps (me, anyway) to put myself in the other person's shoes, to try and see things from their perspective and what their rationale might be.  It doesn't mean I think what they did was right, but if I can understand, it's easier to let go.  I also try to remember how hard it is to apologize.  The person might be sorry for what they did, but not brave enough to say so (their behavior should let you know).  I've also learned that holding a grudge doesn't hurt anyone but myself.  While the anger is eating me up, the other person usually doesn't have a clue or doesn't care and is moving on with life.  Why do that to myself.

3. What is your favorite meatless supper?
~ In the summer, I love a supper made up of nothing but fresh veggies from the garden...salad, corn, tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and onions, zucchini....

4. Wednesday, August 10th is National Lazy Day...will you be celebrating? If so tell us how so we can be lazy too.
~ No plans to "celebrate" a day I've only just heard of, but think it says a lot about us as a society that we actually have a day to celebrate laziness.  One of my biggest complaints about the generation behind me (and it's echoed by pretty much everyone I know) is that there is no work ethic among most of them...and it seems to be spreading forward and backward to all age groups.  I don't think I want to encourage that.

5. As a child did you have any special back to school traditions and if so, what were they? If you're a parent have you continued those traditions with your own children?
~ None that I can think of other than shopping for new clothes, shoes and supplies and yes, I did that with my kids every year until they were in high school.  They didn't have much interest in it by that point.

6. Write a summer tongue twister.
~ Sleek, slippery, sun-tanned, summer skin.

7. Would you be interested in observing a surgery or do you turn away when the nurse pulls out the needle?
~ It doesn't bother me.  I spent a chunk of my childhood living in a wildlife research preserve.  I watched a LOT of post-mortem procedures and blood and guts don't gross me out, but as far as watching a surgery...I just don't have much of an interest.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ The next time someone tells you what another person said about you, do yourself a favor and ask yourself" who held up the other end of the conversation about you?"

You must have a lot of interesting stories about growing up in wildlife preserve! How neat :)

I'm with you on #4-it's a real problem and I think we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg at this point in time.

#8-really interesting...who is holding up the conversation???

The good thing about being sore is that when you move again, it should help the soreness go away.

We had mustard that expired three years ago, and we only replaced it when we had a BBQ! (Out of respect for our guests.)

Dawn...thanks for the visit. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Amiee...M-mmm, I might have a few. ;)

Joyce...I shudder to think what the future is going to be like when I see how so many want everything, but don't want to DO anything to earn it. As for #8, I am always trying to tell my daughter when she gets upset about stuff...walk away, tell the person you don't want to hear it...because when they are telling you about what someone else had to say about you, they were there to keep the conversation going.

Ellen...I actually didn't think about condiments. I shudder to think how old some of the ones in our frig might be.

A vacuum that would come to live and actually work would be AWESOME

The vacuum cleaner made me laugh right out loud! Not sure I would have thought of that but it's a GREAT answer!

Hey ... look for some info about the BlogHer Conference. We can talk about it when I'm there.

Your random HodgePodge thought is GREAT!

I also enjoyed you WTF post. The money spent on dog clothes could go a looooong way with helping animals in shelters.

You are so right about humiliating animals. Really!
