Not Really "Pondering" Maundy Thursday

Not a lot of time today so I won't be pondering with Brenda, but please, if you're a regular reader of Pondering with a Purpose shoot over to her blog and check out the other entries.

This is Holy Week for Christians all over the world and today is known as Holy Thursday or Maundy Thursday.  It's the day our Lord celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples, trying to teach them everything he could in his remaining hours with them.

Chances are it looked more like this than the famous
da Vinci version we are all familiar with.
It's the day Jesus entered into a new covenant with believers through the ordinance of Communion.

It's the day he taught us how to be servants....by being one himself.

The ordinance of foot washing teaches us humility
and servanthood.  It is a deeply spiritual experience.
It is the day Jesus cried out alone in the garden at Gethsemane for the Father to release him from what lay ahead, yet welcomed God's perfect will.

And it is the day he was betrayed by one of his own , arrested, tried and convicted to death, even though he alone was and is perfect and blameless.

Think on these things today.  I'll be back tomorrow with some thoughts on Good Friday.
