Sugar-free Hodgepodge

Offering up another serving of:

*Check it out or join in @ From This Side of the Pond.*

1. In an effort to combat obesity, the mayor of NYC has plans to ban the sale of large sugary drinks (anything over 16 oz.), initially in restaurants, movie theatres, and street carts. Corner stores would also be affected if they are defined as food service establishments. You can read more here . Your thoughts?
~ Personally, I think it's another case of government overstepping.  Are we a fat nation?  Yes, but it's not the government's job to tell us what we can and can't eat.  Who is going to enforce this?  Will it mean more taxes to pay for more government employees?

2. Art festival, music festival, food festival...which would you most like to attend?
~ I would like any of them, the problem is that Tim wouldn't be crazy about any of them.  He will do a quick walk-through of an art festival, a food festival will hold his attention until he finds what he wants to eat, but a music festival isn't going to hold him at all.  He doesn't like to sit and just listen.  We don't really do a lot of festivals.  LOL

3. What are you irrational about?
~ Probably my fears of sharks and snakes.  I am positive that if I go past mid-shin in the ocean Jaws is going to have me for dinner and if I get up to go potty in the night I have to turn on the light and look to be sure there are no snakes in there before I sit down.

4. Do you feel confident you'll have a comfortable retirement?
~ No, not at all.  The world and economy are far too unstable to count on anything.

5. What's been your favorite Olympic moment so far?
(Not ever, just in the 2012 Summer games)
~ This is where I confess I haven't watched them at all.

6. What would you label as the messiest room in your house?
~ The master bedroom.  It's the dumping ground for everything we don't know what else to do with.

7. Do you follow your heart or your head?
~ Probably my heart a little bit more often than my head.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
~ If you're a regular reader, you already know, but if you aren't....our grandson, Aeden Connor, was born this past Sunday.  We got to see him for just a minutes on our way home from Erie.  Thursday I am taking my mom and Megan to see him for the first time.  We are loaded up with all kinds of goodies to take with us.

He's so beautiful! Congratulations to you all! I had no idea since I've been out of the loop.

I tend to follow my heart more than my head at times too. I think that's why I tend to get hurt feelings so easily. Enjoy snuggling your grandbaby.

Simone...It's so good to "see" you! I hope that means you're feeling much better and stronger. :) And yes, following the heart can get us into trouble, but then so can following the head...it's all about balance, I guess, and I often miss the mark.

Aww! He is so cute :) I totally agree with you on #1 - My first thought is "Don't the politicians have anything better to do than to tell us what to drink?!" Happy Wednesday!

Congratulations on your beautiful grandson!!! A very Irish name. Love it. Hey I share your irrational thoughts. I actually was in water only above my knees when i spotted a baby hammerhead shark. That. Undid. Me! ! And my hubby killed a rattlesnake baby that appeared on top of the tomato stake a few wks ago!!! Maryland is not known for rattlers but i have had a lot of snake dreams including one last night!

Congrats on the new grandson!

I have to have the lights on and out shower curtain is see through so I don't have to move it every time I'm in there. I don't know why, but I always have to check the tub.

Veronica and Daniel...Thank you. :) As for the politicians, it would appear they don't. :P

Zoanna...If I ever spot a shark in the water near me that will be the end of it. Either I will die right on the spot or I will never dip so much as the smallest piggy toe in the brine again. And snakes in your garden??? Nature is just not playing fair on that one.

Joyce...Thank you. My son is into all things Celtic so...

Ellen...You're a porta potty snob! LOL I don't like them much either, but they'll do in a pinch...unless it's dark (the boogie man, snakes or a shark might be in there, you know).

Nani...Thank you. My daughter went through a spell when she was 3 or 4 where she wouldn't use her bathroom. Took nearly a year to figure out it was because the toilet was right next to the tub and a wonderful relative had let her watch an episode of the X-Files (remember that). Apparently the creepy thing hid in the shower.

Congratulations on your new grandson! What a blessing to be able to take your mom to see her great-grandson. That will be a very special memory.

Haha, turning on the light to see if there are snakes! When there are cockroaches to be worried about instead :P.

I really enjoyed your answers! Have a blessed rest of your week.
